Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels for Radiant Skin

Chemical Peels are a great way to improve your skin, either by itself or in combination with a skincare routine or laser treatment.  Chemical peels can help improve and clear acne and acne scars, decrease redness, improve skin discolorations, brown spots, sun spots, and melasma, and can improve fine lines and wrinkles.

At El Centro Dermatology, we don't believe that one size fits all, so we specifically design different peels for your different skin care needs. We have a whole array of different brands of chemical peels that we use such as:

Skinbetter AlphaRet Professional Peel System

BEST FOR
  • Accelerating the natural process of exfoliation
  • Reducing visual signs of ageing and sun damage
  • Improving moisture retention and increasing hydration

WHAT IS THE SKINBETTER SCIENCE ALPHARET PROFESSIONAL PEEL?
The AlphaRet Professional Peel is a 3-step peel system that has been shown to improve overall skin tone and texture for patients with mild photodamage, early signs of ageing or blemishes. A blend of Lactic, Glycolic and Salicylic Acids re-texturises the skin to enhance the action of patented AlphaRet Technology for optimal results.

WHAT ARE THE PEEL LEVELS?
AlphaRet Peel Solution 30:
This lower strength peel is the recommended introductory AlphaRet Peel, helping to strengthen, protect and remodel the skin's texture. The AlphaRet Peel Solution 30 is beneficial for treating mild photodamage, early signs of ageing and blemishes.

AlphaRet Peel Solution 50:
This higher strength AlphaRet peel includes increased AHA's, ideal for thickened skin. The AlphaRet Peel Solution 50 is designed to treat moderate sun damage fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, scarring, blemishes and uneven skin tone.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
  • Increased cell turnover for clearer, brighter skin.
  • Diminished visual signs of ageing
  • More even skin tone

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?
You will experience mild to moderate tingling or stinging during the treatment. You may be red post-peel which will last for a few hours. In the few days following the treatment you may also experience some dryness or light peeling. This is normal as the skin undergoes it's regeneration process.
Due to the ingredients used, this treatment is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
It is recommended to have 3 peels over 12 weeks to gain optimal results.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY TREATMENT?
We start with a thorough cleanse of the face before applying the pre-peel solution. Your AlphaRet peel will then be mixed and applied to the face for a maximum of 3 minutes. The peel is then removed and your skin cleaned with a post peel cleanse. The treatment is completed with the application of SkinBetter Science Alto Defense serum and a rich moisturizer. The entire treatment takes approximately 20 minutes.

IS IT PAINFUL?
You may experience a tingling, tightening or stinging sensation on the skin, but no pain.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER MY PEEL?
Best results are evident 10 days after the treatment and have a cumulative effect. Your skin will be noticeably smoother, with an improvement in tone and texture.

WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD I TAKE PRE AND POST?
Pre-Treatment:
Do not have facial hair waxed or lasered 48 hrs prior to treatment and avoid facial shaving 8 hrs before treatment.
Please talk to your healthcare professional if you have had any recent procedures to confirm suitability

Post-Treatment:
There is little to no downtime and you can resume normal activities immediately. However we advise you to avoid strenuous exercise or swimming for 24 hours after treatment.
We recommend using SkinBetter Science Alto Defense Antioxidant Serum twice daily after the peel as it soothes and calms the skin. The SkinBetter Science A-Team Duo Kit is a simple 2 step kit suitable for preparing patients for in clinic treatments. It contains Alto Defence & AlphaRet Overnight Cream.
We always recommend the use of sunscreen to prevent sun damage to the skin. Sunscreen with SPF 30 or above should be used daily. If you are under the sun for prolonged periods of time, sunscreen needs to be reapplied at least once every 2-4 hours.

Do not use retinoid or retinol containing products such as AlphaRet or any other Vitamin A derivatives for 5 days post treatment unless otherwise directed by your healthcare professional.
Do not use other potentially irritating ingredients such as harsh exfoliating products that contain AHAs or BHAs for 5 days post treatment.

Do not wax facial hair for at least 48hrs post treatment.
