Fillers

Natural aging affects the whole face

As we age, different parts of the face lose shape and fullness--leading to lines, wrinkles, and a less youthful appearance. In many cases, this is because our bodies aren't producing as much hyaluronic acid as they used to. Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture, and less of it means that our features begin to sag and droop.

We start to see wrinkles in the nasolabial folds through volume loss and aging over time. These smile lines create a tired laooking face with wrinkles between the nose and mouth.

As we age, our lips lose shape, are not as full as they used to be, and start developing small vertical lines around the mouth while the corners sag.
Designed to act like the body's own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, Restylane and Restylane Silk  reduces facial wrinkles and folds and adds smooth, silky definition to lips.

Fillers are used for facial wrinkles and folds

Fillers are a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body's own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to instantly, visibly reduce moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds or add fullness to your lips

Fillers are used to plump lips and the lines around them

The lips and the lines around the mouth, like other areas of the face, show signs of aging as you get older. This often results in lip thinning, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines above the lip. Fillers are designed specifically to provide natural-looking results.

Fillers are used for natural looking, hydrated lips and fine lines around the mouth.

You can combat aging with fillers without having to resort to surgery.

If you think it’s not possible to get a natural result when enhancing lips, think again. Your healthcare professional now has new Restylane® Silk to bring a higher level of artistry to lip definition and line control for the subtle and smooth result desired by so many.

Many individuals who are comfortable with other types of aesthetic enhancement are concerned that their lips won’t look natural if treated. That’s because until now there hasn’t been Restylane® Silk, with its refined smooth gel formulation that allows for a more subtle result. If you’ve been hesitant to ask for the lips you long for, now is the time to speak out.

After treatments, swelling may be more likely in patients under 36 years, and bruising may be more likely in patients over 35 years.

The first treatment approved for lips and lines

Restylane® Silk is designed for meticulously precise lip definition and line control for the silkier, smoother lips you’ve been looking for. And it’s the first and only FDA-approved treatment to specially address lips and the fine vertical lines around them that can cause lipstick to feather, aging the appearance.

Are you ready?

As we age, lips change and the lines around them become more noticeable. The muscles that surround the mouth can flatten and shrink, making the lips thinner and less shapely. You might have looked in the mirror and wondered what happened to the lips your remember. Now you can take action.

What do your lips say about you?

Why is young skin so supple and full? In part, it’s because of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid, which creates a youthful appearance in the skin. Restylane® Silk is different from other products. It’s a unique, silky smooth formulation of hyaluronic acid that will subtly enhance lips and treat the lines around them. Expect precise shape and definition that just haven’t been possible until now.

Your healthcare professional and Restylane® Silk can create a new level of artistry

Your healthcare professional has the training and education to create a natural effect using Restylane® Silk. Talk to him or her about the best way to prepare for your treatment and what to expect afterward.

Restylane® Silk should not be used by people with previous bad allergies, particularly to microorganisms know as gram-positive bacteria, or by people with serious allergies to drugs that have previously required in-hospital treatment.

Lips and lines around the mouth have always presented unique challenges. But now, Restylane® Silk is here.

Lip tissue is different from the skin of the rest of the face. The soft and sensuous tissue of the lips is constantly stressed by how we move our mouths: eating and drinking, as well as talking, laughing, crying, and all the other ways we express ourselves. Also, lips tend to dry out more quickly than the skin of the rest of the face. The smooth gel formulation of Restylane® Silk allows your healthcare professional to bring new artistry to subtle enhancement, allowing for a more natural appearance.

After treatments, you might notice some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, or tenderness. This is typically mild in severity and normally lasts less than 14 days in lips.

How to Care For Your Lip Treatment

WHAT TO EXPECT

People who receive lip injections may experience irritation or complications, but the majority of side effects that can occur are tolerable, manageable, and pass quickly. It’s important to remember that these treatments are NOT permanent, nor are any side-effects.
The most common side-effects people experience after an injection are:
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Pain
  • Tenderness
Even with the most experienced injector, the lips are such a delicate area that it is very likely to experience some bruising and swelling. These side effects should go away within a few days, but in the meantime there are steps you can take to minimize reactions.

HOW TO GET YOUR BEST RESULTS

If you have any of the more common symptoms mentioned previously, here are some steps you can take to minimize reactions and get comfortable.
  • If you know that you are prone to bruising, taking Arnica supplements such as Excipial Bruise Supplements  a few days before treatment can help prevent bruising from occurring. You can purchase these supplements here.
  • Apply cool compresses to injection site gently, without a lot of pressure (bags of ice, or frozen vegetables work great!)
  • Reduce facial expressions / lip pursing for up to 48-hours
  • Avoid sun exposure as long as bruising is present
  • Avoid massaging the treated area
  • Keep head elevated while sleeping
  • Avoid vigorous exercise for 24-hours after treatment
  • Stay hydrated!
  • Take OTC anti-inflammatories (we’re partial to Aleve) after injections if discomfort is bothersome

WHAT TO AVOID

Before and immediately following your lip treatment, there are actions you should avoid as they may cause bruising, swelling, etc. These include:
  • Rubbing and touching the treatment area
  • Consuming alcohol prior to your procedure
  • Avoiding any medications or supplements that have blood-thinning side-effects, such as Aspirin, Warfarin, anti-inflammatory drugs, fish oil, vitamin E supplements, St John’s wort, garlic tablets, gingko biloba, and ginseng. (As soon as the injections are over you can go back to your usual routine!)
*If you experience side effects that are not at least 50% improved 3-days after your treatment, please contact us!

GET READY FOR THE RESULTS

While you may have some post-treatment discomfort, these symptoms should be temporary. Side effects should go away so that you can show off your enhanced lips in no time!

Again, congratulations on your decision to receive a lip treatment, and we look forward to seeing your final results!
